Dr. Elinor Garely is an experienced international journalist, and marketing/business consultant specializing in the hospitality, travel, tourism, and wine industries. She currently is the Editor/Reporter at eturbonews.com, etn.travel, and WorldTourismNetwork.travel, as well as Editor-in-Chief at wines.travel. Dr. Garely was a marketing consultant for GlobalGlam (Sample Sales), an expert witness for TASA Technical Advisory Services for Attorneys, and a wine ambassador for House of Barton & Guestier, Chateau Magnol (2018).

Dr. Garely is formerly a professor of management/marketing and coordinator of the hotel, travel, and tourism program at CUNY, BMCC, a member of the business management/marketing faculty at Long Island University, NYU Stern School of Business, and the University of Shanghai, PRC. She has worked as an international marketing/management executive for Playboy Clubs/Hotels, Copacabana/related restaurants/clubs, Helmsley Spear (Hospitality Consultant Division), and Babcock and Wilcox – Public Relations, Speech Writer.

Dr. Garely has extensive experience in developing/ implementing hotel management training programs in the USA, China (PRC), Malaysia, and the Caribbean. She designed and implemented the first hotel joint venture in Russia and the first hotel/restaurant management program at the University of Shanghai, PRC. Dr. Garely received a Ford Foundation grant to study the role of Community Colleges in the PRC and was a consultant to the Kenya government exploring economic development opportunities in the USA.

Her research focus Includes topics such as guest safety/security at 5-star/luxury hotels in Bangkok, Thailand, Cape Town, South Africa, and Miami, Florida (dissertation), child trafficking, eMarketing, and what women want in hotels. Dr. Garely has worked as a real estate sales/broker for the hotel industry with Helmsley-Spear, Inc. and Wilder Group.

Dr. Garely has a Doctorate in International Business from the University of Sarasota (Florida) with a focus on hotel, travel, tourism marketing, and guest safety/security. She holds an MBA in International Marketing/Business Management from NYU, Stern School of Business (Honors: American Marketing Association; Former Member, Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society) and a BS Degree in Art/Education from Lesley College. She is a former member of the BOD at Sutton Area Community Organization, International Food Wine & Travel Writers Association, HSMAI, BOD, Sutton Manor Co-op, the Lambs Club NY, and the NY Travel Writers Association.
